O. V. Johnson, a farmer who combines farming and teaching, won the Best Organic Farmer award this year for cultivating 28 varieties of traditional paddy on a two-acre land.

Attukal Pongala, 2021

The famed Pongala, which falls on February 27 in connection with the annual festival at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram (Capital of Kerala), will be held in the homes of devotees in keeping with COVID-19 regulations and some of them will be offering the goddess bran-rich valiyachennellu, a native organic rice.
